Traditional Assamese Mask (Mukha Shilpa)
Traditional Assamese mask-making, or Mukha Shilpa, is an important part of Assam’s cultural heritage and is closely associated with the Sattriya tradition. These handcrafted masks are used in traditional performances to portray characters from mythology and religious narratives. Created using natural materials such as bamboo, clay, cloth, and natural colours, they reflect the creativity, craftsmanship, and artistic traditions of Assam.
